Kings XI Punjab (KXP), the punching bag of this year’s Indian Premier League, hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in what could turn out to be a gross mismatch. The Punjab side is struggling by all means, contriving to lose in whatever ways it can. On the other hand, RCB is putting the fear of god in opponents’ minds. The last time these two teams played, in Bangalore, RCB won by 138 runs. A similar result is on the cards.

Nothing is going right for George Bailey and his team. His expensive and supposedly explosive players are not performing. They are leaking runs when they bowl. Their batsmen are struggling to produce substantial innings when they bat. And fielding is not faring any better. Can’t bat, can’t bowl and can’t field – that pretty much sums up KXP’s campaign this year.
They will play Chennai Super Kings at home after this game. Everybody associated with this team would want to get that match done and forget the whole season as soon as possible.

Royal Challengers is peaking at the right moment. Having identified their best batting line-up, they are in the process of ironing out minor flaws in bowling. The inclusion of S Aravind has added an extra dimension to their bowling. Mitchell Starc, Aravind, David Wiese and Yuzvendra Chahal – it does not look bad for a bowling unit that was initially considered as a one-man army.
Batting is bristling with explosive intent. If Chris Gayle does not get you, AB de Villiers must. The Indian contingent in the batting order, led by Virat Kohli, too is in good nick. In short, good times are ahead for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Royal Challengers Bangalore is red hot favourite to win this match.
